Louisiana Hiking Trails

Want a quick look at the main hiking trails in Louisiana with some brief basic info? This site covers a lot of ground fast. One example is the description (in a few sentences) of the Long Leaf Vista Nature Trail - which has you getting your hiking gear ready. Probably one of the most rugged trails in the state (because of the elevation changes) the one and a half mile Long Leaf trail visits two mesas and a waterfall. It is an interpretive nature loop trail that starts at a comfort station at the Long Leaf recreation area and step for step, is said to be probably the most scenic trail in Louisiana.

Acadiana Park Nature Trails

Great info at this site about Acadiana Park’s educational nature hikes for children and families. Found in the south-central part of Louisiana, located in a wooded section of the northeastern corner of Lafayette, Louisiana, the Acadiana Park has over three miles of unique trails.

On weekends at 1 pm staff members give special hiking tours. The first Saturday of each month is an early morning bird and wildflower hike. On the last Saturday of each month is a night hike which starts with a slide show about the nocturnal life at the Nature Station. The Acadiana Park home page contains a section called Park & Trail Information, which gives a lot of interesting and helpful information about the park and nature trails to help with planning your Louisiana hike.
