New York-New Jersey Trail Conference This site loaded with helpful information for the hiker that wants to help maintain and build marked hiking trails and protect open space in the bi-state region. The conference has 85 hiking clubs and other organizations with ten thousand interested folks. The featured hike in Stiglmier Park on Losson Road in Cheektowaga had a great
photo essay to go along with the story of a new mother’s first hiking
outing with her infant. This site’s link WNY Hikes has a drop down menu with over a dozen hikes listed that you can click on for more info. The featured hiking trail - Letchworth State Park - is accompanied by a photo of a cascading waterfall-which makes you want to click for more info. Wow –the pictures are fabulous! Letchworth State Park is known as the Grand Canyon of the East. The Genesee River cuts through this area surrounded on either side by six hundred foot high walls as the river curves and winds through this western New York area. There are 26 hiking trails in the park. The recommended hike for first timers to this area is the 7 mile Gorge Trail that has breathtaking views as it follows the edge of the gorge.
