This site has an overview of some of the best hiking areas in Tennessee. It gives the addresses and phone numbers of the state parks and recreational areas mentioned. Also this site has links at the bottom of the page to hiking related info.


CTC’s Guide to the Cumberland Trail

Great info at this site about the future and current statis of the Cumberland Trail. Right now more than 114 miles of open trail are currently available for the public’s recreational hiking. When plans for more trail construction are completed there will be 370 miles of trail available. Very nicely designed site with tons of easy to find links giving tons of info. About mid page on the left margin are links to Maps and a dozen Trail descriptions. They take you to full page descriptions of individual trails with photos and other helpful info on each trail area.

The main interest of this site is the ongoing story of folks who like to hike and care about their world helping build the trails. The CTC organization stands for Cumberland Trail Conference, a non-profit volunteer group dedicated to promote, maintain and construct the trails in Tennessee.

 

 


Bledsoe State Park

North of Nashville is the town of Gallatin and nearby is Bledsoe’s Fort Historic Park. This 80 acre park has a portion of the historic Avery Trace run through it with a walking trail marked with descriptive signs. Also nearby is the Bledsoe Creek State Park, a 164 acre park situated by Old Hickory Reservoir near the 1780’s settlement of Cairo in Sumner Co. TN. Among this parks features are six miles of hiking trails.

Tennessee Anytime

This site encourages everyone to come and enjoy the good nature of Tennessee. A nice large map at the head of the page shows the major parks and recreational areas. Then in a well organized concise way three regions are shown with a long list of state parks under each region which link to a page of info on that park. Every park has at least one hiking trail ranging from easy paved trails to rugged backcountry trails for the serious hiker.
